Child & Teen

As your child’s parent or caregiver I believe that you are an expert on your child and are a rich source of information about the challenges your family is facing. I approach my collaborative relationship with parents and caregivers in this way while balancing the reality that often parents have a lot of questions.

My approach incorporates both working with your child individually and incorporating parents and caregivers into family sessions in order to strengthen relationships, work on parenting concerns and address any relational issues affecting your family. My work with families includes transitions, trauma, parenting, divorce and adoption among other things.

I value establishing a collaborative relationship with your child or teen’s teachers and principal if they are having either social or academic problems at school. In my experience, this collaboration is one of the key things that improves both your child’s emotional well-being and your own peace of mind as a parent.

I also provide parent coaching and have worked extensively with issues like discipline, positive reinforcement, consequences for poor behavior, behavior contracts, childhood aggression, potty training, etc.

My experience working with children and families is long-standing and included my year-long internship at Children’s Hospital, Oakland’s Early Childhood Mental Health Program for children 0-5. In addition, my expertise includes working with school age children, pre-teens and teenagers.

I have extensive experience working with children with symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Developmental Disorders such as PDD NOS and Autism Spectrum Disorders, learning disabilities, adjustment disorders, low self-esteem, attachment issues, aggression and social difficulties.
